Hello! My name is Lars X1, and welcome to my bio page - the place where you get to find out a little about me!

To start off, I was born on July 4, 1970, in Akron, Ohio. I was raised in the Akron area, and continued to live there until I joined the Navy in 1994. Since then, I have moved around several times, and currently live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.
I have two wonderful boys (who you can see in the photo on the right) named Alexander - age 6 - and Nicodemus - age 3, who currently live with their Grandmother while my former wife and I set up more appropriate arangements. I am currently seperated from my wife of six years, but have a new girlfriend named April (aka Sivakitty) who currently lives in Conneticut - although hopefully not for long!
When I am not working aboard the USS Harry S Truman as a Nuclear Machinists Mate, I am usually spending time surfing the web or playing Role-Playing Games with my friends. Currently, I am actively involved in a LARP (live-action role playing game) set in the world of White-Wolf's World of Darkness, and also enjoy Sci-Fi/Fantasy books and movies and video games.
I also love cats, and have had several feline companions over the course of my live. This is Loki, currently the only one still with me.

One of the questions I am most commonly asked is how I came up with the nickname Lars, beides the obvious fact that I like Metalica - so I have decided to include that story here for all to see.

About ten years ago, when I was a student at the University of Akron, I wanted to go to a role-playing game convention that was happening at the school, but did not have the money to pay for it. A friend of mine who knew several of the people putting on the con let me know of a way to get me in - the people running it needed several extra part time staff members to help set up, check people in etc, and for the price of helping out for a few hours we got to stay the rest of the weekend free! Of course I agreed, but when I showed up at the time and place to get checked in and shown what to do, I found out that all the staff members had a practice of using nicknames on their badges - but at that time I did not have one!
While I was standing there wondering what I should use as a nickname, the presdent of the local gaming club that was running the con walks over, looks straight at me, and says "Lars!" What went through my mind at that point was that my brother (who is also a Metallica fan) had named his dog Lars, but not that I was wearing a T-shirt with a big picture of Lars from Metalica on it! (How often do you think about what's on your own shirt after you put it on anyway?) This was also shortly after the 3rd Indiana Jones movie had come out ("We named the dog Indianna!") and that line was the next thing to go through my mind. It was several minutes before I realized what T-shirt I was wearing!
So I took this as an Omen, used Lars as my nickname for the con, and have continued to use it ever since.
